Season of Moomin: A Classic Tale of Healing and Acceptance

Certain Seasons bring special opportunities to experience Sky in new ways. Season of the Little Prince and Season of AURORA brought classic tales and touching moments to life through a unique Sky lens. Now a new collaboration comes to Sky with Season of Moomin, a magical universe that blends whimsical storytelling with themes of healing, friendship, and resilience.

Running October 14th through December 29th, the Season of Moomin will immerse players in the transformative story of Ninny the Invisible Child. Join this beloved character from Tove Jansson’s time-honored Moomin books as Ninny faces her fears, overcomes obstacles, and gains wisdom.

A New Play Style Evokes Transformation

Season of Moomin offers fresh visuals and gameplay, and we’re not just talking about the new forest landscape in Moominvalley. The Season will feature three types of quests to explore Moomin stories in unique ways.

As you enter Moominvalley, you’ll notice your Sky child taking on the form of a butterfly, symbolizing transformation and growth. You’ll meet the Moomin family and their friends as you guide Ninny through a whimsical valley where her story is told, each step bringing her closer to her true self. The very environment around you mirrors her journey, gradually blooming into vibrant hues as she emerges from the grey shadows of her past.

Seasonal Items With a Touch of Moomin Magic

The Moomin Storybook arrives as your guide to the Season with a host of things for your Sky child to enjoy! It offers a new expression that perfectly captures the feeling of being immersed in another world, plus a cozy family portrait that can be unlocked for regular Candles. Season Pass holders will have the opportunity to unlock three Ultimate Gifts from the Storybook’s Friendship Tree, too.

This Season Guide is also where all the Moomin quests begin. As the Season unfolds, the Storybook offers more chapters to dive into, and a variety of quests each provide distinct perspectives through the eyes of the Moomins and the eyes of your own Sky child.

Along the way you'll have the chance to unlock themed items that capture the Season—outfits inspired by the Moomin characters, capes, hairstyles, an instrument, and more.

Two outfits in particular grant a brand new partial invisibility effect, reflecting part of Ninny’s own story. While your avatar’s clothing and capes remain visible, the subtle transparency adds its own meaningful layer to the Season’s narrative.

Special collaboration items can also be purchased during the Season! These limited items include ear and tail accessories inspired by the brave and friendly Moomintroll, and outfit items inspired by Snufkin, a free-spirited wanderer.

Stay tuned as well for the 0.27.5 update, which will bring a soon-to-be-announced cape that offers a memorable way to carry a piece of Moominvalley with you throughout Sky. These special collaboration items are currently planned to be available only until the end of the Season.

Begin Your Story of Kindness and Compassion

Once the Season begins, the Moomin Storybook will be waiting for you near the gate to the Vault of Knowledge (if you’re new to Sky, it will show up for you after your intro. Be sure to get to at least Hidden Forest if you don’t see it). Simply talk to the Storybook to reveal its Friendship Tree—it offers the ability to teleport to the special seasonal area and start your quests.

The beloved characters of Moominvalley are waiting to welcome you into their story, to explore alongside Ninny and experience the transformations that are possible through kindness and compassion.
