Coming Soon: Emote Favorites!

July 13 2024

Emote expressions are a cornerstone of Sky. They connect us to Spirits, reflect the history of the realms, and maybe best of all, they let us communicate and make friends no matter what language we speak. Players have tons of options for expressions, so we think it’s time for a feature that will make them even easier to use—emote favorites!

How It Will Work

Keywords: convenient and quick!

When this feature goes live, you’ll be able to pull up a favorites menu by holding down the cape meter, using a shortcut, or pressing a button on your controller. Up will pop a wheel with slots for eight actions from the expression menu, and you’ll be able to add or remove any expression you want for a slot. Once you’ve added your favorites, they’re always at your fingertips!

Oh, by the way—the favorites menu isn’t just for emotes.

You can favorite just about anything in the expression menu, which means you can add stances, calls, props or instruments you’re carrying, spells, even the button to go home or take out your Candle (which might be particularly handy for players using controllers). Not to mention, you’ll be able to save different emote levels too.

And fear not, we want to make sure that the favorites menu will still allow you to spam your favorite emote to your heart’s content.

Using Favorites

Obviously, this will make it faster to use the expressions and actions towards the bottom of the main menu, so you’ll be able to bust out your best Cackling Cannoneer laugh or Thoughtful Director question mark in record time. But that may not be the only thing you’ll find it useful for.

Making a Shared Memory in your favorite level? Planning a video to share with friends in the Sky community? Putting on a play in the Village Theater? Favorites menu at your service! Load up the menu in advance with expressions and more that you plan to use in your performance for smooth and easy choreography.

Speaking of choreography, we also have to mention how much we’re looking forward to using this for Sky dance parties. With a few short additions to the favorites menu, you can step, spin, twirl, jig, and boogie like the dance pro you are.

These are a few examples of where the favorites menu will come in handy, but we have no doubt that you’ll find plenty of other creative ways to use it, too, and we can’t wait to see what those will be!

Looking Ahead

The emote favorites feature will be coming in a future update. Our goal is to make Sky's social experience more intuitive and exciting than ever before, regardless of what platform you play on!

Like we mentioned, we also expect that the community will find all kinds of creative uses for the favorites menu once it’s live, so there will be more to come after it debuts. We want your feedback, ideas, and experiences in mind once we’re ready for the next stage of this feature’s development, so we’ll have our eyes on the feedback channels after its release. Until then, see you in the skies!
